Look carefully at these four suttas - choose Sujato's translations and search for "placing the mind" - in all four cases "thinking" makes far more sense in the context than "placing the mind". Translating "vitakka" as "placing the mind" or "initial application" or any such silliness makes no sense whatsoever!
Also there are no suttas translated by Bhikkhu Sujato that contain "keeping it connected" that don't also contain either "placing the mind" or "placing of the mind". This makes it impossible to use this database to find Vicara by itself - until I learn how he translated Vicara in other contexts (which I'm told are very few).
