  The key to adding a Throbber to Netscape 4.0 is to add the following code to the PREFS.JS file in your C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\[login-name] directory:

  config("toolbar.logo.win_small_file", "30m.bmp");
  config("toolbar.logo.win_large_file", "48m.bmp");
  config("toolbar.logo.frames", 19)
  config("toolbar.logo.url", "http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/6774/");

  The "toolbar.logo.url" can be any URL you wish and is where you jump to when you click on the Throbber.

  The PREFS.JS file MUST be made read-only after you add the above code. See my Help Installing Netscape 4.0 Throbbers for more information.

• The 30m.bmp and 48m.bmp files can go in your C:\Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\Program OR in your C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\[login-name] directory. The [login-name] directory is searched first, then the Program directory.

• The "toolbar.logo.win_small_file" entry seems to be used first, the "toolbar.logo.win_large_file" seems to only be used when the first one is not found? [Please update me on this if you have found out different.]

• The Throbber files don't have to be named 30m.bmp and 48m.bmp; they can be any valid file names whatever.

• The standard dimensions for a Netscape 4.0 Throbber is 40 X 40.

• Although Netscape 3.0 requires 30m.bmp to be made of 30 X 30 frames and 48m.bmp to be made of 48 X 48 frames, Netscape 4.0 seems to take most any dimensions not just 40 X 40. This allows you to use Netscape 3.0 Throbbers unchanged.

• A Netscape 4.0 Throbber works best if its height is close to 40. The width can be any "reasonable" value. I don't know the max, but I have a 64 X 40 Throbber that works just fine.

• The "toolbar.logo.frames" is what determines the width of the frames. Netscape divides the width of the BMP file by the number of frames and uses the result as the width of each frame.
